About the author
The Rehabilitative Pilates Essentials course was developed by a Pilates professional for Pilates professionals. Marliese Steyn is a manual osteopath and a Pilates instructor who successfully applies her knowledge of both disciplines, running a busy osteopathic practice in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this course, Marliese shares her expertise working with special needs clients recovering from a stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, or traumatic injuries.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will :
- Understand the foundational principles of Classical Pilates and how they integrate the ´recovery through movement´ concept.
- Become familiar with common health conditions frequently encountered in Pilates classes and associated with aging, trauma, or neurological disorders.
- Learn how to modify Pilates exercises to facilitate recovery and restore muscle imbalances caused by pathologies or injuries.
- Develop an individualized Pilates routine for rehabilitative work on the Reformer, Mat, Combo Chair, and Cadillac.
